PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh International Airport will serve as a jazz club for pop-up concerts in the month of June leading up to the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival (PJLIF) presented by Citizens Bank, June 16-18, 2017 in downtown’s Cultural District.
The PJLIF attracts musicians and music lovers from around the world, so the collaboration with the Pittsburgh International Airport is a natural partnership. “As the foyer for our great city and region, we’re excited to welcome these internationally-renowned musicians with the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Festival to perform at the airport for travelers and employees,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis. “We’re gearing up for new international flights and more visitors to Pittsburgh this summer, and what better way to showcase all the wonderful arts and cultural events that our region has to offer than by presenting them from the moment passengers arrive.”
Janis Burley Wilson, Vice President for Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement is also the director of the PJLIF, “Jazz is the most democratic and inclusive art form, and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust takes great pride in the diversity of our audiences and variety in the music we present every year. Having jazz welcome people to Pittsburgh when they arrive at the airport sets a festive tone for our visitors.”
Travelers and other jazz lovers that attend the concerts will receive souvenirs and a chance to win tickets on SPIRIT AIRLINES. All airport performances are open to the public and will take place in Baggage Claim, Landside Terminal from 4:00-7:00 pm. Parking is free for 1 hour in Extended Parking and $2 for the second hour. After two hours, the normal rate of $8 per day goes into effect. Parking is also available in Long Term for $3 per hour, and in Short Term for $1 for the first hour and $4.00 for each additional hour.
