PITTSBURGH – In publishing its 2018 flight schedule, Southwest Airlines has announced new seasonal nonstop service from Pittsburgh International Airport to Cancun, Mexico.
Thanks to growing demand for nonstop routes to the popular leisure destination, Southwest will offer service on Saturdays beginning June 9 through August 4, 2018, subject to government approval. The flight will depart at 7:30 a.m.
"This is Southwest’s first scheduled international route from Pittsburgh and an indication of their ongoing success in this region,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis. Southwest began serving Pittsburgh 12 years ago, and this summer surpassed an important milestone of flying 20 million passengers.
Southwest continues to serve the most destinations nonstop (18) of any carrier, and annually transports about 30 percent of total passengers at PIT.
In June, Southwest will offer 27 departures to and from Cancun on Saturdays to 16 cities across the United States, its largest-ever schedule for Cancun.
