DESCRIPTION:Pianist Irene Monteverde completed her PhD in Jazz Studies at the University of Pittsburgh where she worked under the direction of Geri Allen and Nicole Mitchell. Her doctoral research centered around the legendary Pittsburgh-born pianist and prolific composer\, Erroll Garner. Irene also holds an Artist’s Diploma from La Fondazione Siena Jazz in Italy where she studied under the likes of Alessandro Giachero\, Silvia Bolognesi\, and Roberto Nannetti. She currently teaches music to high school and middle school students at the Center of Life in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood.
