DESCRIPTION:Camerata 33 is a professional chamber orchestra based in Pittsburgh\, PA. Part of their mission is to promote and strengthen the presence of Latin-American chamber music in the music halls of the United States\, but we have a particular interest in sharing with our neighbors around the Pittsburgh region. They also believe music is a universal language with power as a teaching tool. Almost half of their performers are originally from Latin-America and collectively they have many musical experiences to share.

DESCRIPTION:Dr. Helga Scheibert began her musical training at the High School of Arts in Targu Mures\, Transylvania at age 7. She has experience performing with orchestras both as a soloist and collaborator. She has performed several solo and chamber recitals in the U.S. and in Europe and had performances broadcast on Romanian National Radio\, West Virginia Public Radio. She is the winner of numerous piano auditions and competitions including Duquesne University Concerto Competition\, Intersection of Classical and Jazz Piano Competition\, Pittsburgh Concert Society. \nShe holds a Bachelor in Piano Performance from Gheorghe Dima Music Academy (Romania)\, Artist Diploma and Masters from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh) and a Doctorate in Piano Performance from West Virginia University (Morgantown). \nCurrently she serves as faculty at Carnegie Mellon Preparatory School\, and she is accompanist at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. She enjoys composing\, improvising\, and experimenting with classical\, jazz\, folk\, and modern music.

She is now a theater major at Point Park University\, where she continues to grow as both an artist and a storyteller. Over the years\, she has had the honor of performing the National Anthem at the Little League World Series and appearing at iconic venues such as the Apollo\, 54 Below\, and Carnegie Hall. She also had the unforgettable opportunity to perform in Times Square with the Broadway Green Alliance. Each experience has shaped her artistic journey and strengthened her commitment to a life in the performing arts.

DESCRIPTION:Appalasia was formed by Mimi Jong\, Jeff Berman\, and Sue Powers in Pittsburgh\, PA. Together they have created an evocative and ambitious performance language for dulcimer\, erhu\, banjo\, and vocals that combines the influence of their folk-roots with uniquely original compositions and inspired improvisation. \nThe individual members of Appalasia each have extensive histories of collaboration\, performing\, and recording with artists including Andy Statman\, Tony Trischka\, Pasang Dolma\, Alash\, Susan Mckeown\, Karen Han\, Robert Een\, Min Xiao Fen\, Samir Chatterjee\, Linda Thompson\, Osei Koranke\, Devilish Merry\, Arthur Russell and Huang Xiang\, to name just a few. \nThe group has two recordings of their own and their music has been used for theater and film\, including an invitation from the Smithsonian Institue in Washington DC to create music for the silent film Broken Blossom by DW Griffith. \n
