Economic Development
Driving the Economy
The Allegheny County Airport Authority (ACAA), which operates and maintains Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Allegheny County Airport (AGC), is the region’s key economic generator. Creating jobs for nearly every industry from tourism to cargo, and welcoming millions of business and leisure passengers each year, the ACAA plays an important role within the Southwestern Pennsylvania community.
The economic impact on the region totals 148,000 jobs and $29 billion in business revenues, while the economic impact of PIT’s transformation project has generated 14,300 jobs and $2.5 billion in revenues. Airport visitor and team spending, and the ensuing spin off of additional goods and services, propels economic growth while furthering ACAA’s role as a gateway that connects regional industry, academia, products, services, people and ideas with the world.
