Lee Robinson is known for blending jazz improvisation with funk, fusion, original compositions, and contemporary music for over 40 years, both locally and nationally. In 1979, he founded ISKA, his first professional jazz quartet, which has become his most recognized ensemble. ISKA features some of the region’s most innovative musicians.
As a music and arts experimenter, Lee has collaborated with poets, actors, and visual artists on various projects. He made an appearance as a street saxophonist in the film “Cemetery Club,” and his original music score is featured in the PBS documentary “JOBS: A Way Out.” Lee Robinson has opened for notable acts such as Stanley Clarke and Bachman, Turner, Overdrive, and they have performed alongside numerous respected musicians.
