AIR CANADA ANNOUNCES NEW NONSTOP SERVICE TO MONTREAL

PITTSBURGH – Today, Air Canada announced several new nonstop year-round transborder routes that will begin in spring 2018, including new nonstop service from Pittsburgh International Airport to Montreal.

Montreal is an important business and leisure market for Pittsburgh. Companies including Bombardier and Alcoa have operations there, and the city’s rich culture, history and European vibe attract more than 10 million visitors each year. The last time nonstop service was offered from Pittsburgh was November 2004, and Montreal is the fourth new international route announced or started from the airport this year.

“Adding another international destination like Montreal is important for both business and leisure travelers alike and adds to the momentum at Pittsburgh International Airport,” Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said. “We look forward to expanding our partnership with Air Canada in Pittsburgh’s growing international market.”

Benjamin Smith, President – Passenger Airlines at Air Canada, said the new flights offer additional convenience for Pittsburghers, and complement the airline’s long-time service to Toronto from Pittsburgh.

“We’re excited to offer additional choices for local area customers travelling onwards to Europe, Asia and across Canada with a vast array of connections at our Montreal international hub on North America’s Best Airline as rated by Skytrax,” he said.

The new Montreal service will be offered on a 50-seat regional jet, and tickets are on sale now.

All flights are timed to connect conveniently with Air Canada’s global schedule, and provide for Aeroplan accumulation and redemption, Star Alliance reciprocal benefits, and for eligible customers, priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounge access at mainline Canadian airports, priority boarding and other benefits.
