Pittsburgh International Airport Names Eric Sprys as CFO

PITTSBURGH — After three years of serving the Allegheny County Airport Authority as Chief Commercial Officer, Eric Sprys has been named Chief Financial Officer, effective at the end of the month.

In a planned transition, Sprys will be adding management of the authority’s finances to his duties upon the retirement of Chief Financial Officer Dale Cottrill.

“Eric has been an integral part of the Airport Authority’s success since his arrival and has led a number of key initiatives including overseeing business development,” Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said. “Dale is leaving the finance department in excellent shape, ensuring a smooth transition.”

Sprys was hired in May 2017 as Chief Commercial Officer after spending more than 20 years in a number of leadership roles—including auditor, controller, senior vice president of finance, and CFO—across a variety of industries, among them finance, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and transportation infrastructure.

Sprys’ extensive experience in widely differing industries is an invaluable asset to the Airport Authority as it seeks to diversify its business portfolio and build new non-aeronautical revenue streams.

“Eric’s track record—both during his time here and his previous experience—is impressive and his business acumen and attention to detail will make this transition seamless at such a crucial time for the region’s airports,” said David Minnotte, chairman of the Airport Authority Board of Directors.

“I would also like to thank Dale Cottrill for his excellent leadership in helping to improve the Airport Authority’s financial position, streamline financial procedures and implement cost efficiencies.”

Sprys has guided all of the Airport Authority’s business development efforts over the past three years, including concessions and parking improvements, real estate development and the Neighborhood 91 advanced manufacturing project. His responsibilities also include oversight of Allegheny County Airport.

Sprys has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education with a concentration in Computer Science from Penn State University and an MBA from Duquesne University with a concentration in Accounting. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
